Events Round-Up: October 2018
Summer has been and gone (wasn’t it lovely!), the leaves are falling and Autumn is here. Dare we say it … Christmas is just 12 weeks away!
We have had an exciting few months in the events team. Hopefully some of you have met Fran Murrells, our new Event Co-ordinator, at recent events. We had some new speakers in the diary in July talking about ‘Being a single parent’, ‘Boosting your career mojo’, ‘Helping your children have a love of sport', ‘Raising multi-lingual children’ and ‘How to manage stress’. Our career topic of ‘Strengths and managing your peak performance’ had to be rescheduled but we hope to announce the new date for that event soon.
A highlight of our autumn programme so far was an exciting talk by author Kate Pankhurst. You can read more about her career and series of wonderful illustrated books about famous women in our article here. She brought out our inner child by asking everyone in the audience to illustrate a suffragette.
As we look towards the end of the year, interesting topics coming up include ‘Helping our children deal with stress and anxiety’, ‘Children that have special educational needs’, ‘A more in-depth look at Dyslexia’, ‘Raising resilient children’, ‘Mindfulness and Wellbeing’ and ‘Growth Mindset’. November includes Anti-bullying week so we are have a special event about bullying in the diary on 15th November. The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Choose Respect’ – learn more here – and we encourage you to show your support by wearing blue on 9th November.
For those of you that are applying for primary and secondary schools, you might like to be reminded of our tips from the Good Schools Guide
We are in the process of compiling our 2019 events diary so if you would like to suggest any topics, please contact Milly at milly@cityparents.co.uk
