The party's definitely over
Friday night was fantastic - our first night away from the baby since she was born in January. She was happy at home with nanny, and we had a great time out in London at our black tie do. We raced home Saturday morning to see R - both missed her hugely. After a late night on Friday (bed at 1.30am, up at 6.30am the next day) we were desperate for a good night's sleep - unfortunately, though, it wasn't to be, as Saturday was the worst night we had with R since she was probably 10 weeks old. She's been struggling with a cough and cold for a while now and woke up at midnight coughing away...and again roughly every 45 minutes for the rest of the night. She managed to sleep somehow during coughing fits but we didn't, lying awake with worry for her. I think we slept about 4 hours in total.
She seemed a lot better this morning but we're still worried - she has been to the doctor twice now about her cough and both times the GP is adamant there is no infection. Needless to say, she will be going back there with nanny tomorrow to get checked again. I know I'm a first time mum and technically know nothing about children, but I know my daughter, and I don't think its right for a cough to go on this long. Hate going to work and leaving her when she's ill - plus, selfishly, I do stress about the lack of sleep. I'm not one of those people who can function on 4-5 hrs a night - I need at least 7, preferably 8, to function properly at the office. Hoping tonight I'll get those magic extra hours and that R is better quickly.
