Sarah's blog: Pace of Life
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it" Ferris Bueller in the film Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
As a mother of three gorgeous kids, full time investment professional at an asset manager, and wife to a man changing careers and studying very hard to become a primary school teacher, this quote has never been more poignant.
Life does move pretty fast. With a busy job that can demand long hours, kids that are learning two musical instruments each (a passion of theirs that they get from their musician father), taking drama gradings, having swimming and tennis lessons all in addition to shocking amounts of school homework (that they tend not to want to do), it feels like life never stops.
But every once in a while you have to stop. Last weekend we had to for our daughter's birthday treat - a trip to town for all of us to have lunch and to see a show. Shockingly, my first instinct when we got up that morning was one of regret.... How can we be dropping everything and going out today?? There is so much to do!!! But how wrong was I? Spending a glorious day as a family, not having to work or run around to do chores, no screaming at anyone to get on with their homework/practice has been the best therapy for all of us.
That was just what we needed and I now feel ready to tackle the week ahead.... I definitely will make sure we do stop every once in a while and enjoy every single moment with the family that we can.
