News from Cityparents HQ - May 2019
We’ve had a flying start to 2019 - passing a major membership milestone, holding our second successful Accelerator conference, launching our new webinar programme, publishing our first podcast and more.
Read on for our highlights of the past 3 months and what’s coming up this quarter.
Our Accelerator Conference
Take one afternoon, a fantastic venue, over 20 expert panelists / speakers and 100+ Cityparents members and mix thoroughly. The result? A glorious hubbub of views, debates, advice and enthusiastic networking. We were delighted to facilitate so many rich discussions about working in the City, managing your home life and looking after your wellbeing, and appreciate the thoughtful contributions from all who participated. We’re grateful to Allen & Overy, our hugely supportive hosts.
If you missed the chance to join us, we’re sharing some extracts from the various talks and panel discussions in this newsletter. Hear what people had to say about managing work and home boundaries and getting ahead whilst working flexibly. Don’t miss some fantastic practical tips on making your family time count and creating a positive home, and catch up on the advice from our keynote speakers Bryony Gordon, mental health campaigner and journalist and Sam Smith, CEO of finnCap.
Our first Podcast is now on iTunes!
You can also listen to Sam Smith in the very first episode of our podcast series Cityparents Talk – now available on iTunes and all major podcast platforms. In this episode of Cityparents Talk, Sam talks about her career path and work/life priorities in conversation with Helen from Cityparents.
Our new online events
If you’ve been intending to come to a Cityparents event but found it hard to get out of the office or client site, then read on. Now you can access our fantastic range of speakers and topics from the comfort of your workplace or home, at a time to suit you. Our new Webinar programme launched last week with popular parenting expert Anita Cleare of The Positive Parenting Project talking about how to raise competent, confident children. These online-only webinars are conducted in real time but provided you’ve registered in advance to attend, you can watch/listen to the recording at your leisure for up to 10 days afterwards. Further webinars on a range of career, wellbeing and family topics are scheduled during early summer and again throughout the autumn; you can browse the full list here.
In a rush? Here’s a handy preview of some of our face-to-face events and webinars coming up in the diary in May, June and July, including our much anticipated Speaker Series event with Baroness Chakrabarti later this month.
To infinity and beyond
Well, not quite! But we were delighted to celebrate another major milestone recently as we welcomed our 15,000th Cityparents member. We’re thrilled to know our network continues to flourish and evolve in response to members’ experiences and interests. We have been busy welcoming new corporate members too – most recently Janus Henderson, Amundi, Alexander Mann Solutions, Rothesay Life, Sullivan & Cromwell, DAC Beachcroft, Gibson Dunn, KPMG, Sky and British Land – bringing our current corporate membership base to over 80 firms.
If you think your organisation might be interested in offering free access to Cityparents Events and/or Webinars as a benefit to its employees, you can find out more about corporate access here or please get in touch with Louisa.
New faces in the Cityparents team
Some of you may have already had the chance to meet our new Head of Events, Susanne Leja, at recent seminars. Susanne joined us last month and has taken over the reins from Milly Sutton, who is embarking on the next chapter in her career. Susanne is responsible for shaping our forward Events schedule - she is brimming with ideas for new topics and speakers and she is also keen to hear directly from our members about your interests and suggestions.
And joining us as of today is Anna Richards, taking up her new role as Cityparents’ Head of Communications and Marketing. Anna will be leading all our Communications, Marketing and PR activities and helping us raise our profile and deliver new offerings to our membership via an expanding range of channels.
Anna and Susanne chat with us here about their memorable work experiences, top wellbeing tips and more.
